Wayne Walker spent 43 years serving as a U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major before bringing that same commitment to the Richmond Fisher Houses, where he served as Manager for 18 years. During that time, he cared for more than 14,000 veteran families — a number that speaks to both the need and the quiet, daily dedication it takes to meet it.

Upon his retirement, Walker received an Outstanding Service Award recognizing not only his years at Richmond but his lasting influence on Fisher House managers across the country. His career is a testament to what it looks like to give a lifetime to service — and then keep giving.
