Truett Family

Rebecca Truett’s husband served in the Army for 22 years as an aviator before being diagnosed with lymphoma in 2015. When the cancer returned requiring a stem cell transplant at MUSC, the family faced a 30-day treatment window requiring daily hospital visits. With their home in Ridgeway two-and-a-half hours away, the expensive Charleston area made hotel stays impossible. The Fisher House provided free accommodation just six blocks from the hospital, with fully stocked kitchens and community volunteers providing meals and support.

“The Fishers are just such angels. To have the foresight that they did to start this is just so remarkable. This is something that I hope people don’t need, but when they do need it, there is nothing better.”
